Lemongrass scrub
Ingredients:
1/4 cup coconut oil
1 tablespoon ginger, coarsely chopped
1/4 cup cold-pressed oil (olive, jojoba, sunflower, or almond oil)
3/4 cup granulated sugar
1/4 cup kosher salt
1-4 drops lemongrass essential oil
1-4 drops ginger essential oil
How to:
In a small saucepan over low heat the coconut oil and ginger pieces. Continue heating for 5-10 minutes until ginger scent and juice has transferred into the oil. Remove from heat and press through a fine mesh sieve or through a coffee filter or remove pieces.
While the oil is still warm, mix together with other oil. Stir to combine and allow to come to room temperature. Stir in sugar and salt. Scent with essential oils as desired. Pack into a container.
To Use: Massage into damp skin and allow to sit 2-4 minutes. Using a washcloth covered in warm water, steam over face or stand in a steamy shower for a minute. Using the wet washcloth, wipe excess from skin. Rinse and repeat until oil is washed away.
Use this to exfoliate every other week or so in the winter on your face as a way to rejuvenate the skin and shed dead skin cells. It’s like a homemade facial!
DELUXE EXFOLIATOR
super exfoliant & antioxidant
Ingredients:
1 T baking soda
1/2 T manuka honey
3 drops lavender essential oil
How you do it:
Combine the baking soda and honey together until it looks like a paste. Add three drop each of lavender.
Place a warm washcloth over your face and hold on skin for a minute or so to open up your pores.
Gently rub face with facial scrub using small circular motions (be gentle with your skin!). Keep massaging skin with scrub for 3-5 minutes to fully remove dead skin from face and to let the essential oils work their magic.
Rinse off with warm water.
Use this scrub no more than 1-2 times a week.
Benefits: This scrub is alkaline to the skin, so to even out your pH it is a good idea to splash your face with rosewater afterwards. This will naturally balance your skin.
Face & lips exfoliator
Ingredients:
2 T organic green tea (after you brew tea)
Tea leaves in both tea bags after brewing
2 T honey
2 T sugar
How to:
Mix it well all the ingredients above, and then apply to your face like you would a scrub. Leave the DIY scrub on for about 15 minutes, so all those detoxifying goodness gets soaked into those pores, and then gently scrub and rinse with warm water.
