Many brides don't realize they need more makeup than their everyday routine. Even natural makeup needs to be amped up to avoid looking washed out in photos. Founder of sh. cosmetics and celebrity Makeup Artist, Megan Ambroch, offers her tips and a guide on how to look your beautiful best on your wedding day.
THE LOOK
Put together a Pintrest board of what kind of look you would like for your special day. Or collect photos to share with your makeup/hair stylist.
PRACTICE
Do a full trial run of your hair and makeup before the big day. Take pictures with and without flash, indoors and out, to ensure you like your look in all elements. Put together a Pintrest private board or photos after your trial.
NATURAL LIGHT
Set up your makeup station in an area with natural sunlight —avoid artificial lighting to get a true color representation of your makeup shades.
PREP
Exfoliate with microdermabrasion exfoliator the night before, the morning of the wedding, apply revitalizing eye gel, both products will help allow makeup to go on nice and smooth and refresh the skin.
Relax & let the magic happen
Megan’s Magic base applied, resulting in that sought after "bridal glow.” Prime with flawless complexion gel to help keep your makeup in place from ceremony to reception.
FIRST LOOK
Apply a light airbrush or foundation base. Eyeshadow base and waterproof mascara and waterproof liner are secret weapons on your big day. Follow with eye shadow, smudging and blending to perfection. Complete your eyes by filling in your brows and or set with a brow gel.
EYE POPPING
Add a couple individual lashes on the outer corner of each eye or full lashes made to perfection for you. This will make your eyes pop, but still look natural.
CONCEAL
To camouflage conceal under eye circles and brighten eyes, full coverage apply multipurpose- foundation stick or corrector duo for the most sensitive eyes. After foundation.
BUILD THE COVERAGE
For best results, apply with a light touch and slowly build your coverage. You can always touch up if needed.
BLUSHING BRIDE
Apply liquid cream blush on the apples of your cheeks and sweep towards the temple for a natural flush.
HIGHLIGHT
Apply highlighter or liquid-bronzer or a powder mineral bronze on the tops of the cheekbones, decollate, under the brow bone, the inner corner of the eyes shadow- shimmer for subtle shimmer and that unforgettable bridal glow.
Lock in the Look
Apply HD finishing powder to prevent excess shine and lock in that unforgettable look.
LIPS
Balance your lips with your eyes, waterproof lipliner a must for all, a strong bold eye goes with a neutral sheer gloss and a natural eye go with a bold lip in color gloss or lipstick.
MOST FORGOTTEN & IMPORTANT
Airbrush/foundation/highlighting/bronzing should match anywhere your skin is showing, from your head to your toes.
